Marjan van Herpen
Marjan van Herpen has been working as a designer since 1999, independently, in various collaborations, and as a freelancer. Since 2020, she has also been working with Claudia Temperilli at Clubhaus Architecten, bringing together solid knowledge and a free design approach. Reality and dreams come together.
In addition to conventional projects—ranging from small to large—Marjan prefers to focus on social and collaborative design challenges. She explores how architecture can contribute to societal change, with a strong focus on the user and the interaction between people to create healthy, inclusive communities. She knows how to effectively involve other disciplines in design processes, thereby arriving at innovative, integrated solutions.
Clubhaus Architecten focuses on inclusive design using the principles of Nature-Based Thinking. They initiate research and use design-based research to address the questions posed to them. They work on integrated projects combining education, renewable materials, climate adaptation, and low-tech to strengthen or even expand biodiversity networks. The firm also serves as a training company for MBO students and works closely with students from the ROC of Amsterdam; they recently taught classes there as well.
Marjan is a member of the Academic Table Urban Ecology and is currently taking the Permaculture Design Course.
