Zoöp is the title of an organisational model for cooperation between human and other-than-human life that safeguards the interests of all zoë (Greek for 'life'). The zoöp model makes the interests of other-than-human life part of organisational decision making.

In a Zoöp, human and other-than-human life work together to foster a practice of ecological regeneration. To become a Zoöperation, an organisation appoints an independent 'Speaker for the Living', who helps translate the interests of other than human life into the organisation’s decisions. This Speaker guides the organisation through a structured learning process, based on a yearly cycle. In this way, the organisation discovers how it participates in ecosystems and how it can transform its negative impact step by step into a positive one.

WE ENVISION A WORLD WHERE OUR EXTRACTIVE ECONOMY IS TRANSFORMED INTO A REGENERATIVE ONE THAT SUPPORTS ALL LIFE.

Zoöp is a practical and actionable model to help create a world where all life forms can flourish. The Zoöp model can be adopted by all organisations, non-profit and for-profit, that want to make ecological regeneration part of their practice. Zoöps share knowledge and together foster the emergence of a regenerative economy or human-inclusive ecosystem, or zoönomy: an economy that sustains all life.

The Zoöp model was developed at het Nieuwe Instituut, in a public research process in several stages, by a large group of legal experts, ecologists, artists, designers, entrepreneurs and philosophers.
