F.A.Q.
How do I know if my organization is suitable to become a Zoöp?
In principle, any organization can become a Zoöp. Entry requirements and ambitions vary, but the more organizations participate, the greater the impact. Do the quick scan here!
Can we start small with a pilot?
Yes. You can also start with a single project, department, or part of your organization.
How much capacity does being a Zoöp require from our organization?
That depends on the size of the Zoöp and the goals you set. We would be happy to think this through with you as soon as we know more about your organization. In general, as a Zoöp, you work with a fixed rhythm: you create an annual plan prior to spring, provide a brief progress update each season, and participate in a peer coaching session with other Zoöps every quarter. Additionally, realizing your goals requires time and effort within the organization itself. Together with the Speaker for the Living, you work as a team to translate ambitions into action.
Will the Speaker for the Living be employed by us?
No. The Speaker is independent, is hired through the Zoonomic Foundation, and is part of the annual Zoöp fee.
How is the impact of our organization as a Zoöp measured?
The impact of Zoöps is measured in terms of development: changes in behavior, decision-making, collaboration, and ecological relationships, supplemented by qualitative examples. Zoöps report on this via seasonal updates and an annual evaluation based on two core questions: what have we done and what have we learned? The answers to these questions together form the KPI report and a basis for the new annual plan.
What is the difference between circular and regenerative working?
Organizations that work circularly strive for an economy without waste. Regenerative organizations operate based on the idea that the organization is part of a living ecosystem and contributes to it actively and positively (‘life-sustaining’).
Can you help with policy adjustments and governance?
Yes. We support organizations in translating the Zoöp method into policy, decision-making, and governance.
How do we involve employees in this process?
Employees are involved in the Zoöp process right from the start through a broad baseline assessment and workshop, in which socio-ecological relationships, goals, and actions are defined together with employees from across the entire organization.
Afterwards, implementation lies with the organization itself, together with the Speaker for the Living, who helps to guide the process and translate it into daily practice. How employees are involved varies by organization and is structured by the Zoöp itself, for example through working groups, internal role allocation, or monitoring specific entities within the organization.
This is supported by recurring peer reviews, seasonal updates, and a community where Zoöps can exchange experiences and questions.
What is the difference between being a B Corp and being a Zoöp?
B Corp is a certification with fixed standards and measurements. Being a Zoöp, on the other hand, does not mean working towards an endpoint, but rather emphasizing continuous action. Zoöp is both an organizational form and a learning process in which nature becomes a structural part of decision-making and daily work – with a distinctive role for the Speaker for the Living.
What is the added value if I am already a B Corp?
Zoöp offers something that goes beyond measuring and reporting: it sets the bar and prompts action. It makes nature part of how you make decisions, work, and collaborate every day.
How does Zoöp help me with my sustainability reporting?
Sustainability reports often work with fixed formats and KPIs. Zoöp does not fit into that ready-made. Being Zoöp offers a tangible form of impact that you can use, for example, in storytelling, annual reports, and impact reports. And naturally, it would be a wonderful Zoöp goal to anchor the ongoing Zoöp journey and results in the Zoöp's standard corporate reports – thereby making them nature-inclusive reports.
How does Zoöp relate to CSRD and other legislation?
Zoöp is not a reporting framework, but an independent model and certificate. It helps organizations make their ambition towards regenerative working concrete and provides a strong, recognizable foundation for this.
Can we stop or adjust during the process?
Being part of Zoöp means learning and developing in practice. Adjusting is naturally part of this; that is precisely the process. Stopping is also possible, but the annual fee remains applicable. We prefer to look together at how we can adapt the process so that it fits and provides direction to your regenerative ambition.
