Breda University of Applied Sciences

Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas) is a higher education institution in Breda, the Netherlands, offering programs in facility, hotel, tourism, leisure, events management, logistics, built environment, AI, games and media. Through its Climate Positive Organisation (CPO) initiative, BUas is working to fundamentally transform how it operates: moving from reducing harm to actively regenerating the (eco)systems it's part of. This means rethinking everything from food systems, energy use, waste management, material inflow and campus design to how sustainability is integrated into teaching and research.

Becoming a Zoöp allows BUas to formally include the interests of all life—not just humans—in its decision-making and process of becoming a climate positive organisation. A speaker for the living represents non-human voices in organisational decisions, helping BUas understand how its choices affect the living world. This means treating the campus as a living community where every being has a voice in shaping a meaningful future.
