Mediamatic works towards a future in which all life forms can live and flourish together, through the development and presentation of interdisciplinary art, design and science practices. They see their environment as a single whole in which everything is interconnected.

Highlights of the goals Mediamatic is working towards as a Zoöp:
- Mapping and understanding Mediamatic as a biotope (biotope mapping)
The Mediamatic site is seen as a living biotope. By mapping which animals, plants and other life forms live there, knowledge is generated to actively adapt the environment so that all these species can thrive. - Using materials as nourishment for other life
Everything that is used becomes part of a cycle as much as possible. Organic 'waste' from the restaurant, for example, is used as nourishment for life in the biotope. This reduces waste and gives material a new role and meaning rather than becoming refuse. - Reducing the digital footprint
Mediamatic is taking steps to become less dependent on large digital platforms such as Google and Instagram. At the same time, awareness is being created about the digital footprint of the organisation and its visitors.
Highlight: an unexpected encounter with nature in the city
A remarkable moment was the invasion of ermine moth caterpillars. In a short time, the street around the biotope transformed into a web-like landscape full of silk threads. It was a powerful reminder that nature can quickly 'reclaim' the city. This unexpected encounter showed how vibrant, unpredictable and extraordinary Mediamatic is as a biotope.
