Shivant Jhagroe

Shivant Jhagroe is a researcher, writer, and musician. He specializes in environmental justice, coloniality, and the power of grassroots resistance. He works as an assistant professor at the Institute of Public Administration at Leiden University. His teaching focuses on themes such as environmental policy, inequality, and climate justice. In 2024, his book 'Voorbij Duurzaamheid'  (2024) was published. In his work, he develops perspectives for an "eco-just society" that centers on caring relationships with the earth and each other. He explores this in diverse domains such as food, energy, and climate adaptation. He also composes and produces music as part of the decolonial art collective CTRL+ALT +.
